Moot Dog show 2017

Once again the sun shone for us at The Dog Show last Sunday afternoon. The Moot was glorious, the freshly mown lawn (thanks to our volunteers) and the autumnal colours of the flowerbeds looking their best in the sunshine.

Not that the dogs cared really…but it made for a wonderful atmosphere for all the owners, adult and children alike.

The afternoon started with Fleur, who, dressed for the part, did a wonderful informative Gun Dog Demo with her GSPs (German Short-haired Pointers) Pinto and Flint, using a couple of young assistants from the audience, proving that working with dogs and children is always a little bit unpredictable!

Agility was being run throughout the afternoon by Mandy and Lesley who did an energetic job at persuading owners and their dogs to run the course. Great fun was had by all who took part.

Then Howard Taylor, from The Vets of Salisbury, kindly gave some words of wisdom about ownership of dogs, and as The Judge, brought his own dog, Fly into the arena with him. He then had a difficult task in choosing winners for the following classes:

The Prettiest Bitch:

Penguin (owner Tiffany)

The Most Handsome Dog:

Keir (owner Sue)

The Junior Handler:

Tucker Jenkins (owner Daisy)

The Dog with the Waggiest Tail:

Barney (owner Sally)

The Biggest Personality:

Harry (owner Hannah)

The Best Trick:

Lily – or rather Lily Pups as she was introduced by heart-stopping 3 year old Elsie!!!!

Agility:

Lily

All culminating with…..THE BEST IN SHOW…..and this one STOLE the show:

LILY (aka Lily pups!)

The refreshment tent was groaning with rocky road, fairy cakes, flapjacks and the ubiquitous scones. A big thank you to Sam, Sally-Ann and Rosie.  Jos and Ophelia Hoare also raised funds for us with their “decorate a biscuit – and a dog biscuit too!” Jeremy was on hand as always with the sound system which helps everyone, most of all the compere, Hamish.
It is always a fun favourite with all ages, and this year was no exception….£515 was raised for The Moot.
