This event, which takes place in the Moot at 11am (gates open at 10.45am) on Easter Monday, has become an annual fixture in the Downton Village calendar, with hordes of children under the age of 12 desperate to find as many small eggs as possible in the sunken lawn area.
It is always well-represented in the Salisbury Journal especially if the day is as good as it was last year … the eggs might have have melted if the children hadn’t been so fast in finding them all.
Refreshments of squash and water are free for the children, and there is plenty of tea and coffee and cakes to buy to help raise funds for the Moot. It is a wonderful social occasion for parents too – everyone enjoys catching up over the Easter weekend with friends at the Moot…come along and join us!
It is also a superb opportunity to buy plants at exceptionally low prices at Angela Jones’ Plant Stall at the entrance – all proceeds going to the Moot Preservation Trust.
