This year’s Easter Egg Hunt in the Moot was not so weather dependent on rain – rather TOO MUCH SUN! Hot chocolate eggs were definitely a risk – and the 4000 mini eggs had to be kept stored on ice until the last minute! Record temperatures meant record numbers in attendance.
The annual Easter Monday Egg Hunt open to children aged 11 and under is a Downton Moot favourite, and the Moot certainly comes into its own. It is always wonderful to witness families – sometimes 3 or 4 generations – come together in our historic and communal surroundings.
With refreshments provided by the Moot Committee, plenty of chocolate, a raffle and a plant stall, it is a staple fundraiser in the Downton Moot calendar.
This year £860 was raised. A big thank you to everyone who helped in any way, and to all those who came along to make it such a happy, successful event.
