Our wonderful herbaceous borders on the west side of the sunken lawn are now complete.  As you may know we planted the left hand bed in 2015, which was greatly admired in its first year, and then started work preparing the right hand bed over the 2015/2016 winter.  With all old stock plants removed, and some sold on to villagers, we then set-to with a number of volunteers in spring 2016 to plant up using the same scheme as the left hand bed. Both beds have put on tremendous growth through the 2016 summer. Our task now in November 2016 is to put the borders to bed for the winter, which is almost finished.  We are really pleased with how these ’prairie planted borders’ now look and I must thank Hugh and Rosie Parry for all their design, planting and maintenance work carried out to achieve their great look in the Moot Gardens. Do please go and have a look for yourselves, just go in through the main gate entrance off Moot Lane, climb the stone stairs and feast your eyes on the borders backed by the tall brick wall.

November 2016.

Firstly wishing you all, as Moot Garden Friends, a great 2016 and hopefully the right weather to enjoy the tranquillity and growing spectacle of our Moot Garden through the coming seasons. As you may be aware we are currently preparing the right hand flower border for a new planting in the spring, thereby matching the planting scheme on the left border, which was achieved last spring and has given us a great sight though the past year.
We now need to have the ground cleared by mid-February to do final digging and manuring prior to receiving the new plants in March. If you would like to help get our flower beds in shape, for a cracking good 2016, then please let me know. Quite a lot of this preparation has already been done as a group on Saturday 30th January 2016 with some other individuals catching sunny days when they could. Unfortunately the second group working date of Saturday 13th February 2016 proved to be too wet!
However, please let me know if you would like to be contacted when we can plan another group working time, Jeremy Parsons, on 01725 512963, leaving a message if not answered immediately.

    Many thanks, Jeremy
